What data is being collected by WP Social Ninja?

WP Social Ninja requests data originated from the social media platforms on which the relevant content was posted. But WP Social Ninja doesn’t store any data.

Product users

When product users (website admins) deploy WP Social Ninja on their WordPress website, they consciously agree to the terms or conditions regarding specific data accessible to third parties via their developer API. Note that, if the product users turned off the Auto Update or Auto Sync feature, still some data (previously cached) may be stored in the product user’s website database. However, WP Social Ninja is not responsible for this cached data. This issue is described in detail below.

End-users

When end-users (social network users) register with and post content on the social media platforms, they consciously agree to the terms or conditions regarding specific data accessible to third parties via their developer API. WP Social Ninja only fetches data that are publicly available with users’ permission to make them accessible to third-party applications. However, users can restrict access to their data via their account settings on each social platform. For example, a Facebook user has privacy settings set not to allow any apps to access a specific type of data. That data can not be retrieved by WP Social Ninja. Moreover, all kinds of private data are excluded. WP Social Ninja does not fetch/process/store any user data that are not permitted by users to be shared publicly. A detailed description of the personal data that WP Social Ninja can display is given below:

Facebook Reviews

The plugin will never receive any personal information about an individual user either in the form of Reviews or Ratings on Facebook. There is only one way to choose to display that information. It is to retrieve a specific type of Access Token (called a Page Access Token) which gives you access to the names, avatars, and reviews of people who review or recommend on a Facebook page that you own.

Instagram Feed (Pro version only)

For the Free version, no personal data will be displayed. For the Pro version, if the user is displaying a “User” feed, only the publicly available information provided by Instagram will be disclosed.

Twitter Feeds

WP Social Ninja will never receive any personal information about an individual user from the Twitter feeds. Twitter feeds work the same just as all feed types. The only personal information provided by Twitter is the name, handle, and avatar of the user who posted the Tweet.

Facebook Feeds

WP Social Ninja will never receive any personal information about an individual user from the Facebook feeds. It will only retrieve a specific type of Access Token (called a Page Access Token) which gives you access to the name, avatars, feeds, videos, and photos of the Facebook page that you own.

How does WP Social Ninja use the data collected?

When WP Social Ninja receives data from social media platforms, it saves the cache data temporarily on the product user’s WordPress database (in the wp_options table). It displays this information on their WordPress websites in the form of rendered HTML data.

Third-party APIs

Data retrieved using these APIs is strictly confined to the site on which our product (WordPress plugin- WP Social Ninja) is installed. This data is used by the website where the product is installed and stored in the MySQL or MariaDB database. We make sure that WP Social Ninja doesn’t reveal, send or process any such data. Moreover, no attempts should be taken to extract any further data from it, whether it can be personally identifiable or otherwise. We (WP Social Ninja) do not store any data for the connected API services.

As we stick to this policy, any third-party APIs used by our products may collect usage data. You can visit the Data Policy pages to know how these APIs may gather and use the data for more information.

How can users request to delete their data?

Product users

Product users (website admins who deploy WP Social Ninja on their website) can request to delete the data in two ways.

Option 1

To delete the configuration and social media data, from your WordPress website’s admin panel go to WP Social Ninja > All platforms and open the configuration modal. Next, you can click on the reset button to delete all your collected data.

  1. For Facebook reviews, go to WordPress website’s admin panel > WP Social Ninja > All platforms and open the configuration modal. (Users can follow the same for all the social reviews platforms including Google Reviews, Airbnb reviews, Yelp reviews and so on.)

However, WP Social Ninja is not responsible for the cached data stored in the product users’ database if the Auto-update option is turned off.

Is any data forwarded to third parties?

WP Social Ninja doesn’t forward or share any third-party data received from each social media platform. We retrieve the data from the social platforms and display it on the product users’ websites. Moreover, we do not send data to our servers or third-party servers. All data remains on the product user’s database.

Furthermore, WP Social Ninja does make some third-party connections to social media APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) and CDNs (Content Delivery Networks) to get content and also has the option to display third-party content. To retrieve images or videos when the requests are made, they make the person’s IP address viewing the content accessible to the third party.

Does WP Social Ninja track data?

WP Social Ninja doesn’t track any user data. But the social platforms from which the plugin requests data may track the data under some special conditions.

Third-party connections

Moreover, any request made by your web browser includes your IP address, which the third party can then see that it’s being requested from. These requests are made explicitly to resource-specific domains with the sole purpose of retrieving content.
